New name, new logo, new website: We’ve completed our rebranding journey for Tuta, showcasing how easy you can be private and secure online.
Our privacy journey
For over 10 years, we have been on a dedicated path to safeguard online privacy. Our journey, which used to be represented by our old path logo, has always been about pioneering security and privacy solutions.
We were the first end-to-end encrypted email provider at launch in March 2014, and we published the first free encrypted calendar in July 2019. In March this year, we also released the world’s first quantum-resistant encryption for email, enabling people to secure their data not just today, but also in the future as quantum computers will be able to break currently used email encryption like PGP.
While our path to improving Tuta is not coming to an end, there’s still a lot to do, not only in terms of improving products, but also in terms of staying ahead of new cybersecurity threats and updating our encryption and security protocols.
But today it’s time to celebrate and showcase our achievement: Tuta is privacy.
Tuta protects your data from prying eyes – not only from the outside, but also from the inside: Not even we at Tuta can view your data because your data is encrypted end-to-end, and only you hold the key for decryption.
At Tuta, we are leading the privacy revolution and our new brand design clearly represents our goal of putting you in control. While most tech companies use and abuse your data, we at Tuta have no interest – or means – of viewing, packaging or selling your data. Everything is encrypted by default. Your privacy is turned on by default.

What the new brand represents
Our redesigned website and our new logo introduced in May 2024 are more than visual updates; they represent our unwavering commitment to your privacy. At Tuta, once you register an account, all your data is automatically end-to-end encrypted, ensuring your privacy is always respected.
Our new domain - Tuta - along with our newly designed website perfectly reflect what we stand for: security and privacy. In Latin, Tuta means secure, safe, or protected - which is why we originally picked the name “Tutanota” = “secure message”. Our new name “Tuta” still stands for security – and our new website now fully supports our passionate message to bring security and privacy to the world!
At Tuta, we are innovation leaders when it comes to security and privacy. Our goal is not only to empower you to securely manage and share your data online but also to provide the most robust and privacy-conscious solutions possible. This commitment is why we have never integrated Google’s Captcha or Push notification services into our products. Using these services would inherently share information with Big Tech. As an alternative to Big Tech offerings like Google’s, integrating them into our service is simply not an option.
