Tuta Mail and Fastmail are two great alternatives to Gmail. This comparison lists the key differences of Tuta vs. Fastmail so you can see which service is the best email solution to create a new email address with.
Tuta is the secure alternative to Fastmail as Tuta encrypts all data end-to-end. Your emails, your calendars and contacts remain private in Tuta while Fastmail has full access to your data.
Both Tuta and Fastmail offer many security features such as two-factor authentication via TOTP and hardware keys as well as spam filters and phishing protection.
But Tuta has much more than this because at Tuta security comes first: The built-in encryption protects all data from prying eyes and all Tuta clients are open source. When it comes to server location, Tuta owns all its German-based servers, which are protected with strict privacy laws. Fastmail on the other hand is an Australian company using rented servers in the United States. Both, the US and Australia are part of the Five Eyes Alliance which means data is shared with American intelligence services.
Tuta for business plans include all the options of paid Fastmail accounts, like custom domains, unlimited number of alias email addresses with your own domain, the option to customize with your branding, and multi-user support. But unlike Fastmail, we also provide an encrypted calendar, an encrypted address book and plan to add an encrypted cloud storage service.
Tuta Mail sends and receives emails instantly - whether you sign up for a new account or whether you have used the account for years already. Fastmail on the other hand is not as fast as the name might suggest: It throttles email delivery for new subscribers.
The Tuta apps for mobile and desktop support offline mode, which means you can instantly go to your encrypted mailbox and calendars without the need for an internet connection which is very helpful if you need to look something up fast while on the go.
At Tuta, all your data is stored on our own secure servers powered with 100% renewable energy. Our offices electricity comes from a renewable energy provider that actively invests into building new facilities for producing renewable energy.
Tuta offers a free plan with 1 GB of storage in addition to paid options like Revolutionary for €3/month with 20 GB of storage and Legend for €8/month with 500 GB of storage. Fastmail only has a free trial period of 30 days. The plans start $3.00/month for 2 GB of storage with a maximum of 100 GB for the Professional plan.
If you are looking to create an email address with a private email provider, it is best to choose Tuta with its automatic encryption.
Tuta Mail is the best Fastmail alternative due to our focus on security and privacy.
Tuta offers private email by default. Tuta Mail excels with its built-in encryption making sure that your communication stays protected from prying eyes. Unlike Fastmail, your inbox is secured with strong encryption and German privacy laws.
With Tuta you can have secure email, custom domain support, encrypted contacts and calendars as well as lots of storage all in one place, making it easy to stay organized and productive. Switch to Tuta today and experience the benefits of a truly private and secure email provider!
First of all: Register your personal Tuta email address.
Then follow these easy steps to forward all emails from Fastmail to Tuta:
Open Fastmail in a browser and log in.
Open the 'Settings' → 'Filters & Rules' screen.
Click 'New Rule' in the toolbar at the top.
In the 'Conditions' section, click 'The sender's email' and change this to 'All messages'.
In the 'Action' section, select 'Send a copy' and enter the email address of your new Tuta account.
Click 'Save' in the toolbar at the top.
From now on all emails sent to your Fastmail account will be automatically forwarded to Tuta. You can inform important senders of your new Tuta email address and delete unimportant ones.
