New in your encrypted calendar
Calendar widget for Android
The Tuta Calendar is now available as a widget on Android, and soon it will also be available for iOS. The widget allows you to check all your important calendar events quickly on your phoneâs home screen â without the need to open your calendar app every time. With the widget you can quickly see your appointments and events for the day neatly listed on your home screen, and create calendar events.
The calendar widget was the most requested feature for the Tuta Calendar, and it was one of the main reasons why we released a separate app for the Tuta Calendar - which can also be used as a family calendar.
Now is the best time to download and try out the Tuta Calendar.
To add Tuta Calendar as a widget > Press your screen > Click Widgets > Scroll down to Tuta Calendar > Choose the account and calendars youâd like to see in the widget.

New in your encrypted mailbox
Tuta Mail has had a nice update with the option to group emails by conversations giving you more choice for how youâd like to organize and view emails. Searching your encrypted mailbox is a lot quicker, too, thanks to improvements made to search indexing.
Emails grouped by conversation
With our improved conversation view, you now have the choice to group emails by conversation on all clients or have them displayed in a list individually. Grouping emails improves your mailboxâs organization as itâs a clean and neat way to store emails from a conversation into a folder, rather than having them individually listed which for some can make your inbox and folders appear too cluttered.
To group your emails go to Settings > Email > Email list grouping > Select Group by conversation.
When emails are not grouped, they appear listed in your mailbox. By enabling emails to be grouped, the email list is neatly grouped by conversation and the inbox is less cluttered.
Improvements to search indexing speeds
Weâve also made some nice improvements to search indexing speeds. Now searching your encrypted mailbox is happening much faster â saving you time, and boosting your productivity. This update marks the start of other improvements weâll be bringing to how you can search in Tuta, for example partial search and the way search results are displayed and highlighted.
Searching for emails in your encrypted mailbox is now quicker thanks to search indexing improvements.

Set Tuta Mail as the default email on iOS
If you follow us on Mastodon or often visit our blog, youâll be aware that getting Apple to allow Tuta Mail to be a default mail option on iOS has been a long and difficult process. Of course, we did not accept Apple ignoring our requests for two months, and after we went public with the issue and filed a complaint based on the DMA, Apple immediately got back to us. So now weâre happy to announce that progress is being made: You will soon be able to set Tuta Mail as the default option on iOS!**
When this feature is released, Tuta Mail will be listed as an option to set as the default email on your iOS device. Setting Tuta Mail as the default mail app makes using your mailbox quicker, and a more seamless experience. Each time you click an email address or have the option to email someone, by default your Tuta Mail app will open.
Partial word search of your encrypted mailbox
Weâre also improving how your search in Tuta Mail works â starting with partial word search. Currently, when you search for an email, you have to search using full words, but soon youâll be able to search for emails and contacts using partial text in all Tuta mobile and desktop apps. In addition to making search more convenient and improving the search experience, this search improvement update will reduce the amount of storage space needed on your mobile device and desktop to store the search index.
What to expect next
Fast sync
With fast sync, opening and using Tuta Mail will be faster thanks to much-reduced loading times. We want Tuta Mail to load and open as quickly as any other not-encrypted email app, which is hard due to our quantum-safe encryption. Yet, this is our benchmark, and we are sure that we will get there; stay tuned!
More search improvements
Once we have released partial word search, weâll start working on improving support for non-Latin scripts, and add highlighting of search results.
