Our latest user survey offered insights into how our community values the security and privacy they get with Tuta, what they like best about Tuta Mail and Tuta Calendar, and what features and products they are looking forward to in the future.

But Tuta isn’t just about secure email, products and features; it’s about fighting for your digital rights. We advocate for strong encryption and privacy protections through active policy work, ensuring that the principle of “Privacy as a Human Right” remains protected, also in the online sphere.

For those looking to break free from data-hungry ecosystems like Google, Tuta offers a viable path to deGoogle. The open sourced Tuta apps for Android are available on F-Droid - the app store that offers only free software apps - and our desktop clients are free for everyone, supporting all majors operating systems: Linux, Windows, macOS.

That’s why we are incredibly thrilled that the feedback from our users doesn’t just guide our product development; it underlines the importance of our commitment to privacy, security, and ethical innovation.

Strong daily engagement across platforms

Tuta Mail is deeply integrated into the daily lives of our users across all platforms:

• Android App: 85% of users who installed the Android app access it at least weekly.
• iOS App: Over 70% of users who installed the iOS app engage at least once per week or more often.
• Linux desktop client: Our Linux desktop client stands out as the most consistently used desktop client. About 75% of everyone who has installed it, accesses Tuta Mail at least weekly via this free client, reflecting a strong alignment with our commitment to free software.
• Web client: The web client remains popular as well, also as a back-up access for when users are on a different machine than their personal computer where the desktop client is installed. Of all users accessing Tuta via the webs client, about 70% are logging in at least weekly.

What matters most

The survey revealed what our community values most in Tuta. We asked our users “What are the main reasons you chose Tuta as your email provider?” Unsurprisingly – and in line with earlier user surveys – privacy and security came out as number one and two!

Most Tuta users are happy with how quickly and how competently their support requests have been handled.

Our support team is proud to maintain a standard of excellence, with over 85% of users reporting prompt responses to their support tickets and nearly 80% expressing satisfaction with how their issues were resolved.

At Tuta, our primary focus remains perfecting the core products that define us: Tuta Mail and Tuta Calendar.

These tools are the foundation of communication and organization, and we are dedicated to making them not only perfectly functional but truly exceptional. We believe that a great email solution should be fast, intuitive, and designed to handle everything from casual messages to professional correspondence with ease. Our calendar is being refined to ensure it seamlessly integrates into your workflow, helping you stay organized and in control of your time. From enhanced synchronization to improved scheduling features, we’re continuously working on the Tuta Calendar to make every interaction smooth and satisfying.

Your feedback drives us to refine every detail of our email and calendar apps, ensuring these essential tools are polished to perfection and continue to set the standard for private, reliable communication.

Future products

However, the future will also see new tools and products. That’s why we have included questions on what you – as our users – would like to see next to join the Tuta product family so that you can fully leave Google behind and secure all your data, not just emails and calendars.

We asked “What other services do you want most from Tuta?” and the reply was obvious: The most requested feature with 29% was an encrypted drive solution, and we’re happy to let you know that it’s already under development.

Only 3% asked for AI Copilot

Another interesting insight was that while AI tools are trending, only 3% of our users expressed interest in an AI Copilot in Tuta. Given the privacy concerns around AI, this aligns perfectly with Tuta’s mission to offer secure and private communication online - so an AI Copilot has therefore not made it onto our roadmap.

We’ll continue to develop features that reflect your needs and values, always putting your privacy first.

Privacy is invaluable, but what about Tuta?

60% of our users say that Tuta is affordable or very affordable.

In 2023 we at Tuta changed our prices as many of our users wanted A: larger storage packages, and B: additional storage and alias email addresses per user which the previous pricing model did not offer as storage and aliases used to be paid ad-ons on top of adding users to an account. This update - while heavily debated at the time (which is understandable as the new plans with more storage also came with higher prices) - today is much appreciated by our users: 60% of our users say that Tuta is affordable or very affordable where only about 12% say that Tuta is expensive.

We are happy that our users agree with last year’s update. Today, our plans offer much more value than before while at the same time being affordable. Plus, there is always the free version of Tuta for everyone who is not yet ready to pay for private and secure email. However, we are very thankful to our valued users of Revolutionary, Legend and the Business plans.

Under Settings → Plan → Gift cards you can purchase gift cards for your family and friends. So this Christmas it’s super easy to give the gift of privacy! 😍 🎄
