Fairness is one of our company values, which is mirrored not just by how we treat our customers, but also by our transparent salary that guarantees fairness among our colleagues. Because of this, the “Deutscher Fairnesspreis” means even more to us than to most companies: You, our users, see and appreciated our efforts of creating an honest alternative to Big Tech here in Europe, one that respects you and your data.

As a fair company we try to meet you at eye level – and even if we sometimes do not achieve that – we always try to do better. And you remind us how to achieve just that, for instance, by pointing out that we need to add an alt text to images on Mastodon (as sometimes we forget), or by giving feedback to our support team about a potential product improvement for better accessibility (that we might not have had on the radar, yet). This deep community involvement that we at Tuta have had since we launched Tuta(nota) in 2014 has helped us along the way – from our early, small steps, to building a post-quantum encrypted email service that is used by more than ten million people around the world.

The “Deutscher Fairnesspreis”, presented by the Deutsches Institut für Service-Qualität (DISQ) and ntv, honors companies that treat their customers with honesty and respect. In this year’s survey, around 66,500 consumers shared their opinions on German companies across 70 categories.

The results show which providers truly deliver what they promise about transparency, reliability, and fairness. And Tuta Mail came out on top in the “Green Email and Hosting” category.
