The Tuta app has landed in the Nextcloud App Store!
Tuta now comes with an app for Nextcloud & has built a Tuta plugin for seamless integration into Nextcloud. Thus, you can use Nextcloud and Tuta together - and the best: it's all free and 100% European!
Tuta App in Nextcloud
In the Nextcloud Store, the Tuta Mail app is now available for direct installation into your locally hosted or managed Nextcloud instance. You can install the app with one click and use it like the Tuta web client within your Nextcloud suite.
The Tuta app can be installed like any other Nextcloud app by the Nextcloud admin user.
So if you are a family or business using Tuta Mail, your Nextcloud admin or provider needs to allow you to use Tuta within Nextcloud.
Nextcloud Plugin in Tuta
In Tuta, there’s now also a plugin for Nextcloud. It needs to be enabled in order to allow further integration between Nextcloud and Tuta. The plugin can be activated for all users of a Tuta account by an admin under Settings → Plugins. If you are a single user of Tuta, you are the admin of your own account and perform this action yourself.
Once activated, this plugin allows you to:
- upload attachments from Tuta Mail to Nextcloud with a single click.
- create Nextcloud Talk link within the location settings when creating a Tuta Calendar event.
This only works if you have installed the Tuta Mail app on your own Nextcloud instance. You can get the Tuta Mail app directly in the Nextcloud Store

Tuta plugins in general
The Nextcloud plugin for Tuta is our first integration of plugins in Tuta Mail and Tuta Calendar. With this, we have now set the ground for a whole suite of plugins. Please take a look at our documentation and guidelines on GitHub as it is now very easy to create your own plugins for Tuta.
Tuta integrations
Our new system for plugins in Tuta goes in the same strategic direction as our recently published Tuta add-on for Thunderbirds. With this add-on, you can use Tuta within Thunderbird next to your already existing email accounts. Now something similar – but with even deeper integration – is possible within Nextcloud. At Tuta, we want you to be able to fully quit Gmail and to replace MS365 with truly sovereign solutions.
Integrating Tuta into open source solutions like Thunderbird and Nextcloud, thus, make a lot of sense as these steps give you more options and better usability.
