The Committee for Justice.

We spoke to the CFJ’s Information Manager about the association, its mission, aims, and how Tuta Mail helps them carry out their work with the highest degree of security.

About the Committee for Justice (CFJ)

Established by human rights advocates in 2015, the CFJ is an independent association based in Geneva, Switzerland with additional offices in France. The CFJ works closely with the United Nations and in 2023 it was granted consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

The CFJ is dedicated to creating systems to both protect and defend people who have fallen victim to human rights violations in the MENA region by giving them a wide variety of support. The vision of the CFJ is to create an environment that empowers human rights defenders, and aims to hold perpetrators accountable.

Need for security

As an association that focuses on helping victims and people vulnerable to human rights violations, there is extremely sensitive information shared via email correspondence. Because of the organization’s responsibility and the nature of the information the CFJ deals with, choosing an email provider with end-to-end encryption and high security protocols is the most important requirement for the CFJ.

When looking for an email provider in 2017, the biggest challenge for the CFJ was finding an email service that most importantly offered end-to-end encryption, was user-friendly, and easy to implement.

Finding a suitable email provider

The CFJ chose Tuta Mail not only because it offers end-to-end encryption - today with post-quantum algorithms - but because it’s a secure email solution that is user-friendly and offers a clean interface that the whole CFJ team is able to use. By choosing Tuta Mail as their email service, the CFJ team has peace of mind that sensitive data and information will remain private and secure.

Another privacy focused feature extremely useful for the CFJ team are Tuta’s email alias addresses. Tuta Mail’s email aliases help the CFJ ensure that their team members can remain anonymous and truly private in cases when this is needed.

In addition to this, as the CFJ is an independent association, they were eligible to receive a discount under Tuta’s Business plans for NGOs, thus making it the most affordable solution to ensure email privacy and security.

Tuta Mail’s unmatched end-to-end encryption, aliases, and affordable price make it the chosen email provider of hte Committee for Justice, helping them carry out their tasks with true confidentiality and security.

Responsibility to use encryption

As the CFJ works with such important and sensitive matters, their protocol encourages the use of end-to-end encryption. Without the encryption, they know that their email communications are not truly private, and could be scanned. In addition to their responsibility of ensuring their communications are truly secure, the CFJ’s information manager explains that using an email provider like Tuta Mail, helps their reputation and is the ideal provider for their communications with human rights partners who are also familiar with encryption tools. Additionally, when it comes to making people feel safe and open to communicating via email, having end-to-end encryption is a necessity.

Security for a great cause

Through the use of Tuta Mail’s end-to-end encryption, high security protocols, and features like email aliases the CFJ can communicate securely, with true privacy. In addition, as an association dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information they have a responsibility to use encryption to protect user data. This also helps build better trust with potential partners.

Tuta Mail is proud to offer encrypted email services to associations like the CFJ who are helping victims of human rights violations. Privacy is a human right and we are building privacy that you can trust.
