I’m glad to have the opportunity to work at Tuta because it’s a company that prioritises the security and transparency of its products for its users. I work in customer support, a role that many companies are trying to replace with AI. However, Tuta recognises the importance of a human-centred approach to providing the best possible support.

I also believe that privacy on the internet is more important than AI at the moment, especially given the fact that Big Tech is trying to collect as much data of its users as possible. This is why I know I’m in the right place to fight for people’s right to communicate securely and privately.

After 30 years at American-owned IT companies, I’m eager to bring all my experience to Tuta. As a sales manager, I can not only pursue my passion for working directly with customers, but I also have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the company’s direction.

I would like us in Germany to rediscover the values that have been lost in some places (solidarity, open-mindedness, ingenuity, and courage). To me, all of these are the foundation of the kind of society in which I want to live with my children.

At Tuta, we give our millions of customers back their right to privacy: both personal and professional. By using state-of-the-art end-to-end encryption, we’re preparing for tomorrow today. After all, there’s a reason why letters used to be sealed or taped shut. They were, confidential.

I’m looking forward to this new challenge, the great team, and all the changes that lie ahead.

What really stood out to me at Tuta was the fact that they want to make privacy simple and accessible for everyone. We know that Big Tech companies use our data for their own benefit. One search of anything will leave me with many ads. Knowing that they use our data can be scary and I do think that this should change.

I truly believe that everyone should have the right to protect their own data and I think that Tuta is doing something valuable for the society with its goal. I’m excited to be working here as an office manager with a team driven by such an important mission.

Why did you want to work at Tuta?

Tuta was a great opportunity to work toward something positive: privacy-preserving alternatives to US Big Tech.

What do you like about working at Tuta?

So far the working environment has been great. I’m learning a lot and being mentored by a very skilled colleague. It feels like everyone on the team has an equal chance to be heard and contribute.

What are you currently working on and what is your ideal vision of the internet?

I’m currently working on making Tuta Calendar more reliable.

My ideal vision of the internet is one free of surveillance and manipulation. Services used for private communication and collaboration should treat your data as private and encrypt it.

Why is privacy on the web important to you?

It should be our decision what data we disclose, to whom, and for what purpose. On large parts of the web, our data is constantly being collected. Cambridge Analytica showed that this data is not only misused for targeted advertising but also for political manipulation. Many services do not encrypt private data; this data may be leaked, allowing criminals to use it for extortion. It’s important that we fight for privacy to prevent such misuse.
