Welcoming new members to the Tuta team in the beginning of 2026!
Not even one quarter of the year has passed and Tuta is happy to already welcome Kai, Florian, Usman, and Vivien as new members to the team!
Welcome Kai
Why did you want to work for Tuta?
I believe privacy to be a fundamental aspect of human dignity; everyone should be able to think and communicate freely without constant surveillance. When the email standard was created in the early 80s, however, during a time of small and trusted networks, it was not designed with the kind of security in mind that has become necessary on the modern-day Internet. This foundational lack of encryption and authentication leaves huge chunks of our communication exposed to interception, unauthorized access, and manipulation. That is why I’m proud to be working on making private email communication accessible to everyone at Tuta as a member of the cryptography team.
Welcome Florian
Why did you want to work at Tuta?
I discovered Tuta in 2022 when I was searching for an email provider I could trust. Even back then, I liked the fact that Tuta places a high priority on privacy. Tuta strikes me as personal and approachable. When it comes to the services I use, it’s important to me that I can see the people behind the product. It’s an environment that I want to actively help shape, and now I can.
I like that my work has meaning. I always feel like I’m making a difference. That we’re all making a difference together as a team. Namely, by prioritizing and preserving privacy on the internet. It’s also a great feeling to work on something that you use yourself. I’ve been using Tuta for many years. When you’ve implemented something and then see that change in your private life, it’s just a great feeling for me. I also like the team and the focus on pair programming. In today’s working world, pair programming is less common, as two programmers work on one task even though they could each work on two tasks on their own. But pair programming has many advantages that many companies are unaware of. Especially as a beginner, you can learn a lot from it. Tuta gives me the opportunity to develop and to realize new ideas.
What are you currently working on?
We are currently working on improving our systems for detecting spam registrations. Nobody likes having to wait before they can start using Tuta properly. We are currently trying to improve this to ensure a better registration process.
What is your ideal version of the internet?
For me, the ideal internet would be a place that promotes creativity and development. At the moment, new and exciting ideas are usually abandoned in the early stages because either the funds to finance them are lacking or there are already established brands that do not encourage innovation. If these problems were solved, I believe that many new and exciting technologies would emerge that would improve many areas of life.
Why is privacy on the web important for you?
Privacy is a human right. Unfortunately, it is treated differently on the internet than in everyday life. Many services simply store data because they can. Often, there is not even a greater purpose behind it. This has become the norm, and many people have grown accustomed to it. We should all say no to this situation and realize that we always have the power to decide. We can say no to services that collect and store our data and instead use services that respect our privacy as a human right. This decision is always in our hands, and we should make use of it.
Welcome Vivien
Why did you want to work at Tuta?
I just finished my studies at university and even when I was little I always knew that I did not want to have a job just to earn a living but instead a job with a meaning, or better, a job that makes the world a little bit better and safer. Working for Tuta which ensures data privacy and fights for a safer internet fulfills this childhood wish for me.
What is your ideal vision of the internet?
My ideal version of the internet would be an internet that is a happy and safe place which everyone feels safe and comfortable to use or participating in without having to worry about their data security.
Why is privacy on the web important to you?
Privacy on the web is important for me because, just like in the analog world, I am careful about which information I want to share with which person because I do not want strangers to know sensitive informations about me.
Welcome Usman
Why did you want to work at Tuta?
We are always being controlled by the “Algorithm” in today’s digital space. We usually see what they want us to see, not what we want to see. It works in such a mysterious way that a normal person doesn’t realise how their data is being used to influence their thinking and lifestyle. Tuta’s products ensure that the data only belongs to the user, as it should. This ideology aligns with my personal values which is why I was interested in working here.
What do you like about working at Tuta?
All of the people working here are highly competent and share their knowledge about their expertise. Since we are working in small teams, the communication is very efficient, and pair programming really helps me to understand the code base and learn different approaches to solving a problem.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working in the Drive team. Since it is a new product, it is really exciting to be working on something that millions of people are going to use and trust. Even though I am a new member of the team, I still have the freedom to suggest any new ideas about the design or features.
Why is privacy on the web important for you?
I have lived in a society where the government and other agencies track your online activities, because of this, a lot of our personal thoughts must be kept to ourselves. Therefore, I would like to see a free internet where people have the right to share their thoughts without any fear of surveillance.

We are excited for them to be on board and we look forward to continue growing our team in 2026. This year we’ve already released some new features and improvements, and as we continue to grow our team these will only roll out faster – giving you an even better expereince when using Tuta Mail, Tuta Calendar, and soon Tuta Drive!
