Software Engineer Backend/Full-Stack
Hi, we are Tuta, the most secure email and calendar service. Our mission is to bring privacy to the world and to enable everyone to store and manage their data in the cloud with zero tracking. For over a decade, we have developed our product and built strong ties with privacy and open source communities.
Our service is used by millions of people around the world. We are always adding new features and products to our end-to-end encrypted quantum-safe platform. For this we want to grow our international team. Our aim is to present an alternative to Big Tech and to make privacy simple and accessible for all.
In addition to Hannover we have opened a new location in Munich in 2024, that focuses on taking our secure backend to a whole new level. Therefore, we are looking for a Backend or Full-Stack Developer to help build our privacy-first solution at our new location in Munich.

Your profile
- Very good knowledge in SW development (frontend and backend)
- Good experience in Java
- Experience in JavaScript / TypeScript
- Experience in Rust and/or Kotlin/Swift is a plus
- You enjoy teaching others and helping onboarding new members
- You enjoy agile teamwork and pair programming
- Clear and open communication style
- Very good written and spoken English
- You’re open traveling to Hannover approx. once every quarter
Your tasks
- In daily pair programming you develop new features in our backend and our apps
- You help shaping the new team at our new location in Munich
- You automate tests and repetitive tasks
- You are in a cross-team exchange with design, marketing and support
- Through new ideas and solution approaches you help shape our future
